Genya Ravan
American rock singer and producer Genya Ravan is known for being one of the pivotal women in rock before Janis Joplin and Joan Jett, acting as the lead singer for several bands such as The Escorts, Goldie & the Gingerbreads, and Ten Wheel Drive. Goldie & the Gingerbreads were the first all-female rock band signed to a major record label, Atlantic in 1964. They toured across the UK and mainland Europe alongside an all-star line-up, which included The Rolling Stones, The Animals, The Beatles, The Yardbirds, The Hollies and The Kinks. After they broke up in 1968, Ravan went on to form Ten Wheel Drive and release and perform solo work.
